About Stefan Hillesheim
From a small town in Germany to Los Angeles, from California to Chicago, from the American Midwest to anywhere the music takes him....
Stefan Hillesheim's musical journey has been quite extraordinary, spanning over 2 continents and a multitude of musical genres - at the heart of it stands a relentless passion for music that can't be stopped.
Born in Koblenz and musically shaped by his father’s record collection, Hillesheim discovered his passion for blues, rock, and soul at an early age. After receiving a classical guitar education in Germany, he moved to Los Angeles, where he studied at the Musicians Institute (GIT) and quickly became an in‑demand session guitarist. His work led to collaborations with artists such as Bobby Kimball (Toto), Ellis Hall (Tower of Power), Emerson Cardenas (Santana), and Brent Carter (Average White Band).
In 2022, Hillesheim relocated to Chicago — the city that has shaped the blues like no other. There, he further developed his distinctive sound: a blend of traditional Chicago blues, Delta‑style slide technique, modern soul, and the emotional intensity of rock.
Stefan formed a band around him, comprised of Chicago Blues Hall of Famers and All-Stars, who helped further shape his sound. They have released three full-length albums together since Stefan arrived in Chicago in 2022. The Group has found great acceptance on the Chicago Blues Scene, regularly performing at all of the Windy City's major blues venues, and at the 2025 Chicago Blues Festival at Millennium Park.
Hillesheim has established himself as an authentic, modern blues artist who respects tradition while forging his own path. Whether on stage or in the studio, Stefan Hillesheim stands for honest music, virtuosic guitar playing, and blues that goes straight to the heart.
